The Tree II
3: 1 Everything starts innocent,
Like a seedling Pushing through the soil,
3: 2 New, green, and uncorrupted,
Before what’s below starts to toil,
3: 3 Roots dive deep, Into the unknown,
Into evils keep,
3: 4 Slowly it sinks in, What was buried,
What was forgotten,
3: 5 It changes the tree, It twists, and it creases,
It’s not what it was, All goodness ceases,
3: 6 For centuries it will stand,
Patiently waiting, Possessing who it can,
Deep in its roots, The fates of man
