Dark
12: 1 Stumbling drunk,
The alley is dark,
But not as dark as what’s inside,
12: 2 Something sinister,
Steadies my stride,
12: 3 I’m being led, By something primal,
Feeling stalked by it, Since my arrival,
12: 4 For forty dollars,
I can be king,
12: 5 Alone in a single room, she lives,
To strangers, Her body she gives,
12: 6 Probably sold by her family For a debt they owed,
Still ashamed, By the selfishness I showed,
12: 7 Looking back through decades of time,
Our innocence lost,
More than forty dollars,
My soul it cost.
