1: 1  The dam in summer, Thick air, hot, Green,

Myst by the falls, Redwing Blackbirds sing, 

1: 2  Riding our bikes, Fishing for pike, 

Cattails and breeze, 

Innocence, happiness, ease, 

1: 3  The dam in winter, Dark, cold, gray, 

Ice on the river, Short are the days, 

1: 4  Everything bleak, Snow at our feet, 

Empty branches blow, 

Realization, hopelessness, sorrow
